Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about our practice and treatment.
What services does Peaceful Mind NP in Psychiatry, PC provide?
We offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, ongoing medication management, and treatment planning for conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, insomnia and more. Care is available for children, adolescents, and adults.
Who will I be seeing at my appointment?
You will be seen by a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who is licensed to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe. You keep the same provider throughout your care so your treatment stays consistent.
What ages do you treat?
We treat children (ages 5 and up), adolescents, adults, and older adults. Care for younger patients always includes a parent or guardian in the evaluation and treatment plan.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes. Most visits can be completed by secure video from anywhere in the state where you are physically located at the time of the appointment. In-person visits are also available if you prefer or if your treatment requires it.
How do I schedule my first appointment?
Click the Request an Appointment button, call our office, or send us a message through the Contact page. We’ll send you a brief prescreening form, verify your insurance benefits, and contact you to schedule your first appointment.
What happens during the first visit?
Your initial evaluation lasts about 60 to 75 minutes. We review your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, current medications, family history, and personal goals, then build a treatment plan together. Follow-up visits typically run 15 to 30 minutes.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Have your photo ID, insurance card, a list of current medications and dosages, pharmacy information, and any recent records or lab results ready. For telehealth, join from a private, quiet place with a stable internet connection.
Do you accept insurance?
We currently participate with Aetna, Cigna/Evernorth Behavioral Health, UnitedHealthcare/Optum, Oxford, Carelon Behavioral Health, Northwell Direct, 1199SEIU, and select Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. Because participation and behavioral-health benefits vary by plan, we will verify your coverage before scheduling your first appointment. Self-pay and sliding-scale options may also be available.
What is your cancellation and no-show policy?
Please give at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed appointments may be billed a fee, since that time was reserved for you. Read our cancellation policy
Do you prescribe psychiatric medications?
Yes. Psychiatric medications may be prescribed when clinically appropriate as part of your individualized treatment plan. All prescribing decisions are based on a comprehensive evaluation, medical history, diagnosis, and ongoing monitoring. Controlled medications, including stimulants, are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed. Additional records, testing, or more frequent follow-up appointments may be required.
How do I request a medication refill?
Please ask your pharmacy to send us a refill request or contact the office at least three business days before your medication runs out. Refills may require a recent follow-up appointment, so please keep your appointments as scheduled. Submitting a request does not guarantee that a refill will be approved.
Do you provide therapy in addition to medication management?
My practice primarily focuses on psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Brief supportive therapy and psychoeducation may be incorporated into appointments when appropriate; however, I do not provide ongoing psychotherapy sessions. If ongoing therapy is recommended, I can help you locate a therapist who meets your needs.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is important to us, and your health information is protected in accordance with HIPAA and other applicable laws. Information may be used or shared for treatment, payment, healthcare operations, or when permitted or required by law. In other circumstances, we will obtain your authorization before sharing your information. Please review our Notice of Privacy Practices for additional details.
What should I do during a mental health emergency?
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For immediate crisis support, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This practice does not provide emergency or crisis services, so please do not wait for a return call or portal response if urgent help is needed.
